A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is an independent, virtual partition on a physical server. Think of a server with different "containers" within it. When you sign up for MPY Technologies VPS hosting, you get one of these containers, to manage as you wish – install applications or scripts, and arrange your web files the way you want. It's private, secure, and flexible.

While you will share some hardware resources with other VPS customers on your server, nothing your neighbours do will affect your container and vice versa. You get many of the benefits of your own dedicated server, at a fraction of the cost.

VPS hosting is an affordable option when your business requirements outgrow the capacity of shared hosting. It's the next logical step: substantially more capacity and control for just a bit more money.

VPS offers a number of advantages over shared hosting. As a VPS user, you can:

  • Run specific applications not allowed in shared plans, such as custom forums.
  • Access additional capacity – fewer customers share each server.
  • Enjoy the reduced risk that your business will be disrupted due to a co-hosted site on the server.
  • Be independent. If another customer compromises his or her VPS, yours won't be affected.

Two words: cost and maintenance. Running your own dedicated server is possible, but comes at a higher cost and is self-managed. You will need to keep up with patches, hardware upgrades, and server maintenance and storage. If you try to cut corners and set up a dedicated server on the cheap, you will probably end up with lower grade hardware with high risks of failure.

You can also rent dedicated servers, but the price is substantially more than a VPS. A VPS offers the perfect step between the constraints of a shared hosting plan and the commitment of a dedicated server. You'll have a lot more flexibility, capacity, and control – at an affordable price.

Customers who make use of cPanel/WHM will receive full management of their VPS. Installation of non-cPanel supported applications will not be supported by our technical support. All you have to manage is your own container, which you can do using the provided control panel software or through root access. You can install, manage, and operate customer software / scripts of your choice.
